how many days before your iui did you and your dh abstain (no MF issues)? Obviously i have had iui's before but never did really get a clear answer from my RE. Its also difficult to know exactly when your iui is going to be exactly so how do you plan accordingly?

 It has worked out in past cycles that we didn't have any intercourse for 3-5 days before iui. I was thinking my b2b iui's would be tomorrow and tues (which would be 5 days without intercourse), but just found out yesterday that my follicles aren't large enough so it may not be until tues/wed, so im thinking 7 days would be too long to abstain..but 2 days would be too short.  Thoughts?

Also ladies that get b2b iui's done do you have intercourse after your 1st and 2nd iui or just the 2nd?

exactly 48 hours. I always made sure he masturbated or we had sex around 48-54 hours before my IUI. It takes 48 hours for ideal sperm production to occur. My RE says to abstain for no more than 5 days.

That said, with IUI they do a washing, so they are only injecting the healthiest of the bunch. Even if you were off by a few hours in either direction (more than 5 days, less than 2 days) it should be okay.

When I went in for monitoring and they saw follie growth, I usually figured they would be doing my trigger at the next visit. As far as how long to abstain, I have to admit that we were bad one time and BD at 5pm the day before a 9:30am IUI. While his numbers were lower, they still weren't horrible and the RE didn't really say anything. You should deffinately abstain between the first and second parts of the IUI, this is what my RE has told me. After part two you are good to go because you are only adding to what is already there, again what my RE has told me. Hope this helps some. GL!

For me, when they decided I would do the trigger shot it was short notice and being my first IUI we were not prepared.  DH submitted his sample with about a week of no action.  The sample came back with 18.5 mil good swimmers after the washing so I wouldnt worry too much about it.  Especially when you think about how they do IUI two days in a row (in my case) so the second IUI only had 24 hour "old" sperm and that was 8.5 mil good swimmers after washing.  I wouldnt stress about it- that would be worse than not BDing in time- Good Luck!!!

i'd have sex tonight.  seven days is too long.

and if you think about it, you are doing two back to back so your husband is contributing 2 days in a row, so you having sex 2 days before your IUI shouldnt hurt the sperm count.  

I just always tried to have sex every day during the week leading up to ovulation and after every appt, i'd ask if we could have sex.  

My RE had us abstain ideally 2-3 days, but up to 5 days, and no more than 5 days.  it is kinda tricky timing things though-

and with my b2b IUI's we did not have sex until the night of the last IUI.  hope this helps.

We were told he should have an ejaculation 36-72 hours before the IUI.

We were told no less than 2 and no more than 5 days.

My RE prefers DH abstain 2-5 days before the IUI. So we pretty much will have sex up to the day/night I trigger.  My RE does not do b2b IUIs, so we have sex the night of the IUI for 'insurance'.

My RE has us DTD the night of the trigger and then abstain until the IUI and the DTD the night of the IUI as well. Other than that we try and do it every other day until the week of the IUI and then play it by ear.
