I was hoping you could recommend an informative parenting/pregnancy book. I know there is an abundance of information on line, but would like a book or two to read through. I want to learn about all the things I should know while I am pregnant and through labor.
We have spent so many years TTC and researching infertility. Now we are as close as we are ever going to get at becoming parents, and I would like to switch gears with the reading.
I hate boring unorganized books, so I figure the best way to start was to ask for recommendations from other mothers.
Re: 1st Pregnancy/ New Parent Type of Book
What to Expect When You're Expecting...
I loved that book. I always got SO excited to move to the next trimester in the book, LOL!
Shows how different opinions are around here....I hated that book! It made me feel like everything was wrong with me! Or made me panic over what could be wrong with me or the baby. Mostly, I didn't read books, but read a lot on babycenter.com.
Well, take my recommendation with a grain of salt... I was PG with DD 17 years ago, I didnt have the Nest or anything else to fall back on.
With DS, BOTB was my bible. Sad, but true.
I read this when I was pg with DS#1 back in 1995 and loved it. Got the updated version when I was pg with DD in '06 and read it again with DS#2 in '07-'08. I know that not everyone likes it though, but I found it very informative and easy to navigate.

my ob told me to throw this book away if I had bought it!! She said it is WAY too alarmist!
I never bought it, ut someone gasve me what to expect the first year...its ok.
I LOVE Baby 411- it is a great reference on most things, and pretty objective.
for pregnancy books, I didn't like any- jenny Mccarthy's was lame, The girlfriend's guide was lame...Pregnancy Sucks was ok...
I deferred to this board mostly, rather than books.
I should add: it is funny my ob thought that What to Expect....was too alarmist, because she is the most alarmist doctor I have ever been to!
