IVF dosages

For you ladies that have done IVF, what were you dosages initially?

I am going to be taking 300 mg of Follistim and 300 mg of Menopur.  Is that a lot???

Yes, that is a lot.

I started at 225 IU of Bravelle.  That ended up being too much, but I have PCOS, and PCOS patients tend to respond quickly to stims.

I started with 300ui of follistim and 150 (2 powders) of menopur, 5 of lupron.  Have you done injectibles before?

I haven't started yet but got my dosages today, it doesn't look like I'm on Follistim but I'm on 75mg of Menopur which I think is one vial...the IVF nurse in our class was saying if you have more than 75mg you have to mix more than once and that the max is 4 bottles which is 300mg so that seems like a lot BUT to be honest I have no idea what I am talking about yet!

I only stimmed with Follistim - 200IU at the beginning and that was dropped down to 150IU on day 5 until trigger.

Have you done injects before?

Oh, I think I meant IU (or cc).  Heck, I was once an engineering major and think of things in the metric system!

I figured it was a lot.  My meds were more expensive than what most people spend and my RE said we were going to be aggressive.  

Pray for those who are going to be around me while I am on these meds!

No, I haven't done injects before.  I am 37 (almost 38 - just 2 more weeks) and have high FSH.  I don't imagine that we are going to get a lot of eggs even with all of the meds - my count on CD3 are never as high as a normal 37 year olds.

Yes that's quite a bit but your siggy says you have high FSH so it may be called for.  What protocol will you be on?

i have normal FSH and by the end of my stims I was on 300 of gonal F and 150 of menopur. I still only got 6 eggs (5 mature), and have no diagnosed female IF issue (yet).

I think i was oversuppressed on 20 of lupron in the beginning.

I guess we'll see next time

I am guessing it makes sense if your FSH is high.  Do you have a low antral follicle count?

Yes, I do have a low antral follicle count.

I am still learning all of this!  Thanks for your patience.

I just wanted to wish you luck.  My doses are lower but my FSH fairly low as well.

Round 1 - 1 vial of menopur, 5 lupron, 225 gonal F. Ended up with OHS, fluid in my abdomen and nearly hospitalized.

 Rounds 2&3 - 1 vial of Menopur, 5 Lupron, 150 gonalF.

That is the same dose I was on. We still only got 7 eggs.

I was on 225 Bravelle and 225 of Menopur for our first IVF and will be on the same for #2 as well.

I also did an antagnoist protocol.  My dose was similar - 300 Follistim in the a.m. and 225 Menopur in the p.m.  I added in Ganirelix when follicles were about 16 mm (did for 2 days).  I am 35, almost 36, also have high FSH (11.7, I think...also high E2 at that time so the number is probably worse than it sounds), low AFC and have been diagnosed with DOR.  I just had egg retrieval and they got 7 eggs, 5 fetilized with ICSI and I am doing a 5 day transfer on Sunday. 

Sounds like our situations are similar and yes, it is quite a bit of meds, but it sounds like your RE is being aggressive and that's good.  Good luck to you.

We started with 150follistim and 150 menopur, and were at 300 of each by the end (and I stimmed for 12 days!)

I think I responded more slowly than they expected, since they thought I might be slightly PCO. But even clomid was slow for me.

started with 10 units of Lupron, then once I started stims decreased it to 5 units. 300 IU of Follistim and 150 of Menopur (2 powders)

I'll be starting with 150 menopur and 150 bravelle.

I am 38 with high FSH.

I started with 300 of gonal F and 75 menopur. I am responding slowly, so meds have been increased to 375 gonal f and 150 menopur.

I am also on antagonist protocol.

Just an update - turns out I am taking 225 IUI Follistim and 225 IUI Menopur starting tomorrow night.

They ordered the higher amount, just in case, and the teaching nurse didn't realize it.
