Do you continue to use both as long as your nursing/pumping? My neighbor said she stopped using both at 3 months. I'm afraid I'll be a leaky, hurting mess so I'm timid to try to stop.
By Lansinoh are you referring to the lanolin ointment? (Lansinoh is a brand name) I used it at the beginning when my nipples were tender, but quit using it after a week or two - I got to a point where I just didn't remember to put it on after a feeding and realized I didn't need it. Using the lanolin has no connection to whether or not you will leak.
The pads will absorb milk if you're leaking. If the pads stay dry, then you don't leak and don't need them. If you leak, then you need them. I don't leak, but I usually keep a set of pads in my bra so that my nipples don't chafe on the inside of my bra.
I only used lanolin the first week while I was still a little sore from starting out. I still use the breast pads, but I only really need them at night already.
