We are in napping hel!. DD normally sleeps from 7:30-6:30. She then takes a 2.5 hour nap at 9:30. We can barely get 30 minutes from her in the afternoon. She is then a complete mess in the evening. Constantly breaking down, crying.....etc. We want to start shifting her morning nap later so that she'll hopefully take 1 and be okay in the evenings (for the record, the best days have been when she randomly takes a 3 hour nap in the afternoon and no morning nap).
The problem with this is she is in daycare 4X/week. Any experience on getting your daycare on board? Mine is in-home and are very set on schedules. It's kind of a pain.
Re: Shifting morning nap later & daycare
I agree with tosababy. Your DD is at the age when she needs to be moving to 1 nap in the afternoon. (DS take a nap starting between noon and 1 pm and will sleep for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, for example.)
It seems unreasonable to me that your DCP would have a strict schedule about napping when it's not developmentally appropriate for all the children she cares for. Have you already asked her about it? Are there other kids your DD's age there?
DS is in a center, and because all of the kids in his class are at the same place developmentally, they all take the same early/mid afternoon nap. He naps better than he ever has before now.
