How much do you budget each season for lo's clothing?

Not including shoes!

We are trying to make an annual budget that will work for us.

TIA

Re: How much do you budget each season for lo's clothing?

  • I budget $100 per month for clothes, shoes and toys. I buy most of his clothes at the kids consignment sales that are held here twice per year. I get tons of nearly new brand name clothes and toys for him there.

  • Honestly I don't budget it, but I do keep an eye on really good deals, be it in the clearance bin or on craigslist.  I don't spend more than $5 per piece of clothing for DS.
  • I don't really budget either.  I don't buy much, unless I find something on a really good clearance.

  • I don't budget per se. I go to this huge consignment sale twice a year and rack up enough clothes to get him through each season. I probably spend $250-300 a year on that. I probably only buy new clothing once every couple of months, and on average I only spend about $5 for a piece of new clothing.
  • I go to the outlets a few times a year & catch sales at the stores. We spent $500-$700 a year on clothes (including winter coat, snow suit, socks, hats, hair bows & other accessories.) I spend about $20 a mo. if I'm out at the mall or target if I see something cute on sale. Then $100-$150 at the outlets each time I go. (Once each season.) I feel like it's a resonable $ considering it also includes PJ's and I like to have enough for 2 outfit changes a day incase she spills/gets dirty. HOWEVER, to help w/ $, I sell her clothes her Once Upon A Child when we're done with them. In December I took her NB-18 mo. sized summer clothes (4 bins) and made just a few dollars under $200!

  • I don't budget.  95% of her clothes come from consignment sales (we have a ton of awesome ones, thank goodness) or clearance.   Birthday is happily timed in July, so what we get for christmas usually lasts almost until birthday and vice versa.
  • I can't budget by season. He grows in weird spurts, usually right after I buy clothes that I think will fit for the whole season, just out of a sense of contrariness.

I have to buy his clothes as he needs them. And so, I keep Kid to Kid in business.

  • I buy in spurts before the start of each season, and spend 300-500 each time. Maybe less in the summer because spring clothes roll into that.
  • I actually don't budget for DS clothes. I buy whatever I can at the end of the season for the follow year and I try to keep each item $7 and under. Then when that season arrives I assess what I have and what we will need and I go get that.

  • Really, we don't have a budget.  I usually try and buy a lot at the end of one season for the next year.  My daughter has never had a huge growth spurt, so this works for us.  I try not to spend over $3 on shirts, $7 on jeans, and like $4 on pants.  I also try to hit up garage sales in the summer.  Last year I found a garage sale where the lady had tons of name brand pants and they were all basically brand new.  Her daughter must have been a year older, so it worked out for me to buy what she had for this year.  I think I bought like 20 pairs of pants from the lady!  I'm going to seriously keep an eye for them to have a garage sale again this summer.  If I really need something I will go to the resale shop or just go and buy what we need.
