Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

quality of ikea mattresses?

we're expecting #2, and #1 will be about 20 months then.  we have another crib that we'll be using for #1 but still need to purchase a mattress for it.  we're planning to transition #1 to a regular bed within a year from then...so, we don't want to spend much on a mattress that's only going to be used for a year or less.  ikea has inexpensive mattresses, but i'm not sure what the quality is like.  i slept on a foam ikea mattress for 10 years as a child and loved it, but i'm not sure if a toddler needs something more firm.  any experience with it?

Re: quality of ikea mattresses?

  • DD has slept on an IKEA mattress from infant hood, and we've been pleased with it.

  • just curious - do you have a foam mattress or one of the spring mattresses?  thanks!

Oh, sorry. I meant to say that she sleeps on a foam mattress. It still looks and feels brand new!

  • I didn't get one for DD but would in a heartbeat. I had a spring mattress for myself that we used for 8 years and it was fine. It was basic, a bit hard (but we like that). And for the price, it's definitely worth it, esp. for a crib that's only going to be used for a short while.
