Soothies? Medela gel pads? Earth Mama products? What do you recommend? I would like to have something in the house so we don't need to run out after the baby arrives.
I LOVED these- my LC gave them to me. I wore them around the house in between feedings so that my nipples wouldn't rub against my shirt/bra and it helped them get air.
Also some Lanolin cream, lots of companies make it, but I used Lansinoh. They gave me some free samples in the hospital.
Tylenol
I bought some sensitive skin fragrance free soap. and I think that's it.
I love First years breast pads with the laniol cream on them already. The are the only breast pads that didn't itch me and had cream on them incase I forgot
So far I have used Lansinoh *use after every feeding) and gel pads (for 2 days). I also used the breast shells they gave me at the hospital (not the flat ones for feeding, but these, which protect your nipples when you're wearing shirts (https://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/breast-care/108/therashells). But everyone's different. I had a lot of nipple pain the first few weeks, so I needed more than others might have.
My LC said not to use the Earth Mama stuff because it has a bunch of fruit extracts in it and there is more chance for an allergy issue. I just use lanolin (the hospital and my LC gave me free samples, and you need so little that the samples were more than sufficient).
Other than that, I ordered washable nursing pads from an etsy seller (which were okay, but I've heard there are softer ones).
Re: What do I need to have for soothing nips?
I haven't had to use anything.
I had a hard time with BFing in the beginning.

Good luck!
