DS1 will be 22 months old when DS2 starts eating solids. Not sure if we need to buy a booster or another highchair like the Fisher Price Space Saver for DS2. At this age (20months) DS1 has to be restrained otherwise he will just jump out. At what point can they just sit in a booster? I guess it depends on your LO! What is your experience? Thanks
Re: Does your DC still sit in a high chair?
DD is 25 months and still sits in her high chair for breakfast since her oatmeal is so messy, but she sits in a booster for lunch and dinner most days. I think she was around 22 or 23 months when she started refusing to sit in the high chair and insisted on sitting in the booster instead. We have the FP healthy care booster seat so it still keeps her contained like a high chair; however, it's not high enough to reach our table, so we have to use the tray with it.
You could get a booster like that for DS1, or you can spend more and get the FP space saver which you can convert to a booster for DS1 later.
DS #2 sat in a booster from day 1 (well... 4 months but you get my point). Never had a high chair.
As long as the booster has straps you should be good!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Honestly, neither of the girls will even sit in a booster anymore. DD#1 stopped sitting in a booster before age 2, I think. We moved DD#2 into a booster at about 1 b/c we were trying to sell the house and wanted to get the high chair out. From there, it was only a matter of time before she decided she wanted to be like DD#1 without any booster. At a restaurant, DD#2 still usually has a booster...but not always. It's not worth the fight. Either way, if they're sitting at the table, I don't worry about what they're sitting in.
ETA - We use a combination of bribes and threats to keep the girls in their seats. For meals, they have to stay sitting even when they're done or go to bed. Even if they don't like the dinner or eat a single bite, they have to stay at the table and "chat" with the family. Also, if they sit nicely and eat most of their dinner, sometimes we do dessert. We don't always do dessert, but they know if we do have any, they only get it if they eat most of their dinner and stay in their seats.
DD just turned two and still sits in her high chair maybe 80+% of the time.
Most of the time she's happy there, but when she isn't, she likes to use an adult chair. As long as she can manage eating at the table pretty well, we're going to just let her do that without a booster.
