I've never done this, but it's been recommended to me-- putting bleach into the overflow spout in the tank will disinfect the bowl, including under the rim. ?And I've heard Lemishine works great for rusty toilets, as well.?

Lime away is the only thing that has worked for me.

The ONLY thing that really works is to get a toilet pumice stone (they look like the ones for your feet). I got mine at Home Depot, but you might be able to find it at Walmart. You literally just scrub it away. The stone will start to wear away and turn the rust to dust. Oh, and don't worry, it won't scratch the porcelain. It's way better than bleach or Lime Away
