Pumping proublems

With my other two I tried pumping at around 2 months and 6 months and both times I got a 4 oz bottle out of both but after that I was never able to get more then a few drops.  I used a electric and handheld pump with both and diffrent models also.

Is it possible to just not be able to pump...I breastfeed fine and my last daughter was EBF for one year and I plan to for my LO

Re: Pumping proublems

  • The LC told me that some women have trouble letting down for the pump.  I had trouble at first with it and it helped me to have Hayden in sight.  If I could concentrate on him and relax, I would let down.  Now, I let down almost as soon as I see the pump because it has become a pain (of engorgement) relief mechanism.

  • I'm confused.  Are you a SAHM?  Why else would you randomly try pumping at 2 and 6 months?  Your body needs time to get used to the pump, so if you plan to pump, you need to do it more than sporadically.
  • Your body has to learn how to produce for the pump.  Like PP said, you need to get used to doing it and do it more often to be able to produce like you may want to.  However, my LC did say that some women just don't produce for the pump.  This could be you.
