XP: How many ounces of BM for a 4 week old?

I am trying to figure out the right amount for DS.  He currently is being given about 2.5 ozs, per the LC's advice.  However, he seems to still be hungry afterwards.  While I am sure he would probably guzzle it down, I don't want him to spit half of it up.  I also hate the idea of putting too much in his bottle and then wasting the milk if he couldn't finish it. It would be great to hear from others with LO's at this age on how much they give.  I normally BF, but I like to have DH give him a bottle about once a day too.TIA!

  • When I went to the lactation clinic last week they told me DS should eat 2x his weight in ounces.

  • DD at 2 weeks is eating 3 oz of BM.  I say you should give a little bit more and then see if he does spit up.  Id rather my baby spit up a little than still be hungry.  JMO

  • My twins are taking about 4oz at each bottle feeding.  Sometimes there's a little left over from a bottle, I'd rather waste a bit than them still be hungry and cry in 20 minutes.
