I EBF and pump a bottle once a day or so, but will be increasing that when LO starts day care in a few weeks.
Right now, we're still using the lowest flow nipples, which came with the bottle. I bought some level 2 and level 3 nipples, but am now wondering if we'll want/need to use them since he's still breastfeeding and it's not like my boobs are shooting out milk faster as he ages (or are they?). Are the faster flow nipples for breastfed babies, or just formula fed?
Thanks.
Re: Bottle nipple question for bf babies
I've always been told to use the slowest flow possible. It's much harder work for them to nurse than to bottlefeed, so if they get used to faster flow nipples that are easier, then they can develope a bottle preferance. Also, sometimes faster flow nipples can cause them to choke since they are used to having to suck so much harder and can get too much to swallow at once.
