I just bought some non maternity yoga pants at Costco this weekend in a size medium and I'm wearing them right now. I would've normally bought a medium and the waste would've been big, but I need the bigger size for length. Let me tell you the waste isn't big, but they are so comfy right now.
I have been able to wear pretty much all my pre-pg yoga/pj type pants throughout my whole pg so when I bought a coming home outfit I just got my regular size and a size bigger for the top. The guideline I have heard several times is whatever was comfortable when you were 5-6 mo pg.
either maternity or a size larger than you normally wear. you will look about 5-6 months preg afterwards, but it is all loose and smooshy belly. nothing like the more formed, tight belly you have now.
I'd go with whatever you were wearing around 20-25 weeks. You don't want to try to squeeze into your pre-pregnancy pants and end up uncomfortable and depressed.
I usually wear a S in my favorite Gap black stretchy pants, the pair I'll bring for the hospital (and probably wear home) are a M.

The size you would wear there is the size you will wear home. Remember...you will be swollen/bloated and you stomach really will not have gone down enough to compensate sizes. I have always worn a pair of yoga type pants home that I would have worn that week of delivery. By the end of the next week then your swelling will have gone down and you will have lost a lot of the water weight and you will then notice more of the baby eight reduction.
I'm wearing yoga pants with a very loose band. My stomach was so sore after having my Lo's i don't want anything pressing on it. I couldn't even massage my own belly/uterus like they make you do at the hospital to help shrink your uterus. I had to have the nurse help me my stomach was sore, so i'll be wearing something very loose.
The clothes I wore home the first time, as well as the ones packed for now, are in my regular size. Just make sure the waist is stretchy and not constricting.

I have a pair of black gaucho pants from Target that I've been living in lately. I'll wear those home. They're pre-pg pants but I've been able to wear them throughout my entire pregnancy.
id say just make sure your pants are comfortable. make sure the band is extra stretchy. there was only one pair of pants i found comfortable that i took to the hospital.
