daycare/nap advice

Does anyone have any advice on how to get Kate to nap better at daycare? She stakes two 2-hour naps a day at home. She takes two naps at daycare, but they are usually 45 minutes tops, and today's was 20 minutes! I know it's harder for her to sleep there (loud! busy!) but she's exhausted when she gets home, so I get cranky fussy baby for 2 hours, then I put her to bed :(

I think they'd work with me if I had some advice for them.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

Re: daycare/nap advice

  • This may not be what you want to hear, but we were never able to get DS to sleep in the infant room, and it got worse as he got older.  Sometimes he was sleeping only 45 minutes all day!  When he moved to toddlers, and got a structured nap time with lights off and everyone expected to lay down and be quiet, he did a 180.  Now he sleeps at least 2 1/2 hours, often 3 hours.  It's made a huge difference.

So, while I don't have any advice for better naps in the infant room, take heart that your DD will probably do a lot better once she's in a different environment.  Meanwhile, I know it stinks for you, so hang in there.
