3rd Trimester

Where do you feel hiccups?

I swear I read somewhere that if you feel hiccups/hear heartbeat above belly button it's an indication that baby is breech.  If you feel hiccups/hear heartbeat below belly button then baby is head down.

Last night I had the most bizarre and painful movement LO has ever done. And today? Every time he has hiccups they are ABOVE my belly button.

I swear if this kid flipped and went breech he is in big trouble! Hopefully at my OB appointment tomorrow he is head down!

Re: Where do you feel hiccups?

  • I'm feeling hiccups very low. My midwife confirmed at my visit this week that baby is head down.

  • I feel them directly to the left of my belly button, or a little lower and he's head down.

  • I feel hiccups right down by my cervix, but I'm not as far along as you and the baby could flip back up! I would say that if I felt them above my bb I would think the baby is breech, too.

GL to you at your appt tomorrow! I hope your baby isn't breech or that he/she can still flip again!!

  • Someone else posted something very similar the other day. I think it was murphygirl.?

I feel her hiccups wayyy low down by my pubic bone to the right.

GL hope baby isn't sideways. ?

  • I feel them way down low and it echoes off my hip bone... drives me nuts!
  • Hmmm... I have been feeling them high.... but at my last Dr. appt the doc felt the baby was head down. I go back tonight, we shall see if he still is!

  • I feel mine below belly button, pretty low. But last night...it was so weird. LO got the hiccups and I swear it felt like there was 2 LO's in there with seperate hiccups. It freaked me out a little. I thought O.M.G...what if there is 2 in there and they never saw the other one!?!?! Then I calmed down and realized how ridiculous that was. Lol
  • That's where I used to feel them too...very low near my left hip. At my 36 week ultrasound he was head down.

I wonder if he really did flip....well, he's got two weeks to flip back!!

  • My LO is waaaay head down, but I feel her hiccups all over my belly. I guess because her whole little body gets into it?

    This

  • LO has been head down since like week 30. i feel hiccups very low. almost on my waist line.

  • I actually have the same worry right now... Usually they're really low and far to the right - in the right position, it feels it's almost in my hip socket. Last night, they were high and right after some major uterine gymnastics. Cupcake was head-down at our last u/s at 34 weeks so I'm interested to see what my mw says about positioning at my appt tomorrow.

  • I've always felt hiccups  very low, which I assumed meant she was head down. I went for a 3D u/s last week and she was deff head up. Maybe she flipped and had been head down, I don't know.

Going back to finish u/s tonight, she slept through most of the last one. I'm so hoping she's head down.

  • I feel them low and toward my back now, since that's how baby is turned.  But if I'm lying on either side with my belly touching the bed/couch, I'll feel them up higher as an aftershock.

I secretly would be thrilled if this happened to me. If they said, "OMG there's another one in there!" Then I never have to be pregnant again...

  • I've felt them above my belly button before.  I can feel them in LO's back or tummy rather than by his/her head.

  • I don't think I've felt hiccups yet. I'm not sure what they feel like. I hope I don't miss out.

  • My baby is breech and I feel the hiccups VERY low, so not always true!

  • Had the same worry last week, was feeling them very low for the longest time, then all of a sudden after lots of movement one night Im feeling them high. I asked doc, and she said she is still head down, just facing my back now, so I am feeling her butt when she is hiccuping... dont be worried! :)
