We've been in the 20"s every morning for a week. Yesterday's high was 40. This is so not normal for the Tampa Bay area. Then add in the power going out at night!
lol. I don't either. The snow is nice for the holiday season, but now that the holiday's are over, I'm ready for spring. Although, it is suppose to get up to 40 this week sometime. That is a heat wave for us this time of year. :-)
My sil has lived in Fort Myers, FL for like 12 years and she keeps calling me to tell me how cold it is. I just laugh at her because, a. it's colder here...by a lot, and b. by the end of the week you guys will be back up in the 70s. I still have until, oh, JUNE before it will be that warm here! Saturday night I sent her a picture of the corner of my tv screen where the weather/time show up on the news...it was FIVE degrees! While I was rocking Jack to sleep at 3am it was -4, and that wasn't with the wind or a "real feel" temp, it was actually -4 out.
we are finally gonna get above freezing on Thursday....I had to laugh when the weather guy said "warm air from the south will raise temps above freezing" Ummm dude even FL is in the middle of a cold wave lol
I dont mind 20's when it gets down to the teens and lower is when it starts to bug me....even worst then the high temps of the day is below zero.....brrrrr.

I'm happy if there is a + rather than a - in front of the temp. It's 18 right now and I'm excited we'll actually be able to go play outside today, last week we barely hit 0.
And the ice? I was late bringing DD to school because I could not get the ice off my windshield. When we got to her school, there was ice in several spots on the ground. DD wanted to ice skate.
Oh, And I don't even own a coat! I've been wearing DH's big coat. He's been wearing 2 set of long johns under his clothes since he works outside.
It sucks. But as long as there isn't any wind, I am okay with it. Its the high winds, snow blowing in your face, can't feel your legs while walking to your car that I hate.

Playing outside when it's 18 degrees??? I guess we just don't know how to handle this.
My parents live in Boca and they are beyond miserable. They have lived there 20 years or so...it is all what you are used to. They just have thinner blood now, I swear. I think this cold snap in the South is extra bad just because no one is prepared for it - coats, heating systems. etc...people just aren;t as equipped and it makes it much worse.
That said, we head to Florida in a few weeks and it better effing warm up before we get there!!!!

I agree with this. The WIND. When it hurts and takes your breath away - that is what I hate!
I live in MI and I rarely wear gloves and run out every morning to start the car without a coat.
Funny...you are from the Tampa Bay area. A few years ago we went on a cruse out Tampa and decided to stay 2-3 extra days after the cruise just to enjoy the sunshine and "warmth". It was February. Anyway, it was 40 degrees, rainy and windy the whole time we were there. It was warmer back in Michigan! We couldn't wait to get home to warm up. lol

I sent both my girls outside to play yesterday--I was excited that it was 10 degrees so they could go out. The daycare ladies were ecstatic today that they'd be able to get outside (it is currently 19 degrees). Don't get me wrong, there are rules and regulations for how long the kids can stay outside when you are licensed daycare so I don't fear for their well-being or anything.
You just bundle up and come in when those cheeks start to get red.
And I can't even tell you how excited I am that it is supposed to be around or above 32 on Wednesday! We'll get some much needed melting of snow on the roof and roads.
It's all a matter of perspective--I visited a friend in Arizona in August a few years ago and thought I was going to melt and stick to the sidewalk.
Re: I don't know how northerners do it!
LOL this! I won't even wear gloves under 20 and that's usually just to pump my gas.

Cold? Eh.
Doesn't bother me.
