3rd Trimester

Question for working mommies...

What are your plans as far as returning back to work after LO is born?  Are you going back part-time or full-time?  I think I am going to go back at a 60% schedule, so I will work 3 days a week.  The problem is I lose all of my benefits :(  Good thing is I can go back at 100% at any time I'd like.

Re: Question for working mommies...

  • I'm going back full time--but doing a split week--3 days in the office, 2 days at home :)

  • I'm going to go back FT and see how it works. If I think it's too much I will ask to reduce my schedule.
  • I wish I had that 60% option; that sounds like a great compromise.  Unfortunately, I will be returning to an 80 hours a week, call every 4th night schedule :(
  • I am going back part time.  I am an RN and prior to going out on maternity leave I worked full time, which was 3 12-hour shifts per week.  I will be going back part time, which will be 2 12-hour shifts per week.  I will still have benefits, but will pay a little more for them.  We will see how that goes.  Now that I will have 2 LO's at home, this schedule seems pretty good to me.
  • I tried to do the working from home thing at a 80% schedule, so 3 days in office, one day from home, but my boss wouldn't go for it.  So I am just going back at 60%, but lose all benefits :(  It sucks, but at the same time, I want to be with my little guy as much as possible.

  • I am going to get 4 months off ( I am a teacher dd falls2 months before summer break) but I will have to return to work in august ;( we'll see how that works out.. I would love to be a stay at home mommy since our little one has been diagnosed with a bi-cleft lip/pallet so he will be having several surgeries but I just don't think we would be able to make it financially ;(
  • I'm going back full-time after this LO.  When we have a 2nd I'll consider working a reduced schedule or working from home a day or two a week depending on our child care situation with my MIL and her ever expanding number of grandchildren.  We just found out #6 grandchild for her is due in September and she already is watching two of my nephews now FT and one PT (ages 2, 10 mo, 4 mo).  By the time we have our 2nd, the eldest two nephews will most likely be in preschool, so we may not have an issue at all.

  • I will be returning back to work, but plan on having a discussion with my boss on if I could be reduced to a 30 hour per week schedule. We have to work 30 hours or more to keep benefits. If this doesn't work out, I have no issues with still being full-time and see how it works out.

I make more money than DH so I plan to go back full time.

  • I am in dental and we only work 4days a week (mon-thurs). I am planning on going back after 6weeks... I will be 2 days in the office and 2days working from home. I am scared about working at home and actually getting my job done. But I have an awesome support system and I boss to die for, So I am hoping there will be grace in the transition.
  • I will be home for 8 weeks, and then I go back full time. The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that my MIL and my mom will doing the babysitting while we are at work.  They are both very excited, and we are happy that the baby will be with family.
  • I have no choice really. I'm going back full time 6-8 weeks after the baby is born.

  • I'm choosing to go back full time.  I like my job, and I like being able to be financially secure, plus putting away for retirement.  I'll probably be out for 6-8 weeks.

  • If my DH's company is doing better and he goes back to full pay I may approach my work about going part time (32 hrs a week).  I haven't ever brought it up to them because my DH took a pay cut last year, but I'm pretty sure they'd be okay with it.
  • Full time.  But I'm a teacher so I only work 182 days a year.
  • I'll be working part-time for three months or so and then go back full time. Sadly, I would rather stay part-time!

  • I'm coming back full time at 4 months, I did the same with DD #1 and it was fine.
  • I make more money than DH so I will be going back to work full time after.  Luckily, DH has Mondays off, my mom has Tuesdays off, and then my sister owns a daycare, so LO will go to her Wed-Fri and will get to be with family all week.

In CA we get 12 wks family leave, so I will be taking all of it! I am excited to have so much time with LO Big Smile
