3rd Trimester

Anyone on Methyldopa for PIH?

My docthor just put me on a low dose of Methyldopa because my blood pressure has been high for my last couple appointments. I have done 2 24-hour urine collections and bloodwork (twice) for Pre-E and both times all the test results have come back good, thank god.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has been put on this blood pressure medication and if you have how has it worked for you? I haven't seen a change yet but it's only been 2 days so I'm sure it just needs more time to work. I hope it works for me because if not, she said I'll have to stop work and be on bedrest. I go back Friday for a follow-up to see how it's working.

  • I'm on it. I've been on it since the beginning of my 2nd trimester. It works just fine for me. I have no side effects and within a week I could see a difference in my BP. I have to chart my BP everyday, twice a day, for my Dr to review at my appointments. I've taken one 24hr urine test and results were fine. So far my urine has been fine and the medication regulates my BP.

  • Awsome. Thanks! I haven't had any side affects yet either. Hopefully, I'll see the bp start going down soon.
