I know the "on paper" differences between the Keyfit and Keyfit 30 but was wondering if anyone had any personal experience on which one to register for and why??? TIA
We went for the Keyfit 30 in hopes that she will be able to use it the whole first year.In our state they have to be rear facing for the first year and from what I have read the infant seats are safest for the first year so long as the child does not exceed the weight and height requirements. We were not concerned about weight but some of our friends have long babies.
I got the smaller one...because no way am I carrying a 30lb kid around in an infant car seat.
Also...DH and I are both very tall...and I am guessing that our little guy will exceed the height requirement of either one before he exceeds the weight limit.
We have it and used it with dd and loved it. I will use it with ds as well. It is nice to be able to take the carrier off the base and pop it straight into the stroller, especially when baby is sleeping. We kept it rear facing until she was just a little over a year old and then moved dd to another carseat and turned her forward facing. I probably would have left her rear facing is possible, but she was walking and mobile and did not like it any longer. It's better to leave them rear facing as long as possible, even if their legs are long. The neck muscles are not strong enough to turn forward, especially before a year. If you are rear ended, (which I hope this never happens to any of us), but our pedi. said it's better for lo's leg to break sitting rear facing than for lo's neck to break since they do not have strong muscles yet. Good luck shopping.

This. With DD1 we used a Graco. I prefer the Keyfit over the Graco.
