Washington Babies

Need 'mini' baby-moon ideas!!

DH and I want to go on a mini baby moon in February before Hudson arrives.  I can't take any time off because I'm saving it all up for maternity leave (I dont get any paid except all my accrued time off).  So we will just have my 3 days off to go (Tues-Thurs).

I want to stick with somewhere not too far away (3-4 hours or less preferably) just in case Hudson decides to come early or anything happens.  Plus, I can't imagine having to be in the car for too long when I'm that pregnant.  Please post any ideas you have or places you've been ni Washington that would be fun in Feb!! TIA ladies I know you will all have some great ideas!

  • What route are you wanting to go? Romantic and intimate? Flashy and city? Despite all the hype the penninsula is a great place to just get away to at a great little Inn by the ocean. There are a couple casinos over there and some great restaurants. Leavenworth is always fun with the shops, sleigh rides and hotels. You can also always rent a fab room in Seattle and play tourist if you really don't want to go far.

  • We are doing a night at Salish in mid-February.  We booked this package through Costco.

We also looked at Semiahmoo, but with the winter olympics, I did not want to deal with all the tourists.  Depending on when your looking to go you might not have that issue.  They do have a good package that includes massages.

And we looked at Alderbrook Resort, but I still can't find their $99. deal they advertise.  And my friend who did a babymoon there last year said the restaurant is pretty fancy/overpriced and there isn't much else to choose from.

  • I really want to either go back to Victoria [The Victoria Regent is my favorite], go to the Gulf Islands [Poets Cove Resort] or just stay somewhere in the San Juans for a weekend for our baby-moon.  I'd like to do a mini trip as well, since I know DH won't be down for a week long vacation as we're setting aside money for our remodel.

If you do stay in Seattle, I absolutely loved Hotel 1000.  If you like golf, they have a virtual golf attraction as well as good food, awesome bathtubs that fill from the ceiling, and close to a lot of stuff.

  • Also, last year we spent a weekend at the Inn at Port Hadlock.  It was gorgeous, we took the scenic route there and had a relaxing weekend.  We also had a date in the bar and then had dinner in their restaurant - it was so much fun and the food was amazing.  DH thought the bed was a little uncomfortable, but that was his only complaint - I thought it was fine.

  • How about Cannon Beach, OR? It's so beautiful there. We always try to go atleast once a year for a little get away.

  • We went to the Chevy Chase Beach Cabins for our babymoon.

I was able to get the $99 Alderbrook resort deal but it ends 1/31, or maybe it already has.

  • I just looked at Preston's link and those cabins are so cute! And Port Townsend is a fun place, and close to great hiking and scenery.

  • the inn at spanish head is a wonderful hotel in lincoln city on the or coast! there are outlets and fun places to eat breakfast, museums. and if you drive down the coast the whole way its a fun drive. lots of neat places to stop and take pics and visit like the tillamook cheese factory and some airplane museum thing.

we have a cabin in cle elum too and thats always a nice, quick getaway. you could stay at suncadia.

  • Chrysalis Inn & Spa up in Bellingham is supposed to be pretty amazing.  My parents go every so often and we have some friends that go a lot too.

We went there for our 1st anniversary, it was nice.  We got massages and it had a huge soaking tub.

  • We're doing the same thing!  We've chosen to do Suncadia (Roslyn, right off I-90).  My friend loved it, I wanted to be somewhere with snow and it had a spa.  I bet you'd get great weekday rates too!
  • Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!! I am compiling a list and doing some research tonight to see what has the best deals and sounds the most appealing!
