Most nights, I get crazy restless legs. I'm so ready to go to sleep, but then my legs start getting all twitchy and crazy, keeping me from falling asleep or getting a good sleep. Anyone else had this and found a way to successfully chill their legs out?
Re: Advice for RLS?
Is is pssible to have your husband give u a leg massage, that might help the muscles relax.
YES! (Sorry - was lurking on all the boards, can't sleep.)
Anyway this worked for me. DH hated it but oh well.
1. Put on PJ pants
2. Pull bottoms of pants up way past your knees.
3. Put IcyHot or Mineral Ice (or other muscle rub) on twitchy part of leg and rub it in as much as possible.
4. Pull pantleg back down carefully so you don't get stuff on outside of pants (and then on your sheets).
It is very important to put the pants on first because otherwise you'll be pulling your pants up and get stuff on the waistband and it will drive you nuts. Also if you don't wear pants you will get the stuff all over your sheets, etc.
It isn't pleasant, it stinks like hell, and Mineral Ice will make your teeth chatter but within 10-15 minutes you will probably be asleep.
Hope this works for you and if not Good Luck in finding something that does!
If this works for you it would be easier than my solution but Benadryl always makes mine worse so watch out for that too. Antihistamines can trigger or increase RLS.
(I've been dealing with RLS for about 18 years around the clock - not just at bedtime - so I've tried all sorts of things and done lots of research. Everyone has different triggers.)
