Normal for DD to decrease milk intake?

For the past few nights DD hasn't wanted her entire 8 oz sippy of milk before bed.  She gets 8 oz in the morning and 8 oz at night.  She only had about 1/2 at night the past few nights.  I'm just wondering if at this age I need to change milk amount?

TIA!

  • Does she have yogurt or anything else with dairy in it a day?  if so you are ok then.

DS only drinks about 6-8 oz a day.  It is all I can get in him.  But he eats a yogurt every morning, and when we have something with cheese, I put extra cheese in his meal.

some days, he may drink 20 oz, some 3-4oz.  I figure it all evens out, especially with yogurts, cheese, and other dairy.

  • I'd say she's deciding for herself.  If she's consistently not drinking it, give her a smaller amount.  If you want her to have more milk during the day, perhaps offer it with a meal or before her nap.
  • my DD is a milk hog, so I am no help.  But our pedi said no more than 3 dairy servings daily, including milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.  So as long as she gets her 3x a day - she should be fine
  • My DD is so NOT a milk drinker. I shoot for 16 ounces a day, but really she drinks closer to 10 if I'm lucky. Lately she's taken about 2 sips of her morning cup and maybe 5 of her before bed cup. I do worry about calcium. I've even tried to offer her chocolate milk and it still didn't matter. She is a yogurt fiend though, so I usually give her that a couple of times a day.

  • Thanks ladies!  She does have a yogurt daily, too.
