3rd Trimester

Oh man, I fell for it!!

I got an "invitation" in the mail to attend a free baby safety class. They promised lessons about SIDS, Infant CPR, and more.  So, DH and I went.  The guy started out acting like he was a safety specialist - although, in retrospect, he gave us no credentials whatsoever.  He proceeded to convince everyone in the audience that the carseats, high chairs and cribs we already bought were going to kill our children.  THEN, he dove into a two and a half hour sales pitch.  It was terrible. It was like we were in the audience of an infomercial!!!  Don't fall for it.   The brand they're trying to sell is Babee Tenda, but - of course - it doesn't say a word about selling anything on the "invitation" (that they confiscate from you as soon as you arrive for the "show".  Here is an article I wish I had read before we went!!

  • I went to one of those and was so upset too, because the coupons they gave you weren't really worth sh*t.  At least I would have appreciated something I could use since they took up two hours of my life.

  • Went to the same thing..It is a gimmick...and half the people sitting there with you work with the company..I also know quite a few people who feel for it and bought the crib (which is hideous and flimsy) and that stupid feeding chair that converts into a tub, play thing..etc.. What a waste of time..also they promised free gifts which were certificates for bogus places..and all nonsense...Later I discovered through baby bargains that it was a con
  • oh, i am sorry.

I have been to one of those before (but not while pregnant, thank God) - i really really hate those people. Once you are in the 'show' you feel so trapped. We should really stand up for ourselves and at least have the courage to stand up as soon as we realize what we got ourselves into and either walk right out of there or stand up and interrupt the 'performer' and ask a few questions and not be too polite about it. That will give the others courage to walk out of there as well.

the good part (if there is one) = from now on you will unmistakeably 'smell' something fishy the moment you receive one of those 'invitations' in the mail or an inciting phone call / e-mail and not fell for one again.
