3rd Trimester

New Here- been lurking for a while...

Hi there!

My name is Amanda! ***waves***

My husband and I have been together for over 3 years. We are expecting our first child NEXT MONTH! ITS A GIRL! We are both wayy too excited.

I used to be a huge BabyCenter fan but to tell you the truth it's just getting old! My best friend told me about this site so I thought I would give it a go.

I hope to see all of you BELLYfull ladies around.

    I'm guessing 30 seconds...

    Welcome to the board Amanda!

  • I made the account a while ago. I actually forgot about it.! got back on about a month ago.

  • Umm... I suggest lurking a little longer.
  • Lurking helps to ensure that you don't bring an attitude to the board that will get you toasted by the regulars.

Unfortunately, if you are indeed a new poster and not someone's sad excuse for an AE (alter ego), you have a strike against you already. You happen to share a name with an infamous AW (attention whore) and while that isn't enough to count you out, it definitely doesn't help matters.

Another thing to remember is that the bump is very much unlike Babycenter, Babygaga, or any other baby forum. We are intelligent, entertaining, and occasionally (okay, regularly) snarky women who tell it like it is and don't mince words. Saying things like "Bellyfull" women will get you mocked for eternity. Just sayin'.

If you really are new, congratulations on your upcoming arrival, and I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. But I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the board and some of its regulars. There is a tight knit group here that can be hard to break into, as most of us have been together since at least the 2nd trimester. We are accepting of new faces, as long as they aren't annoying, AWish, or just plain dumb. It just takes some time to get used to the way things run around here.

If you have a thick skin and can roll with some sarcasm and lolcats, you should be fine.

Lmao, we are a bunch of gun-shy b!tches aren't we? Poor girl probably is new, and has no clue why we all think she's a Diane.

  • No worries- I am new. I've never been a huge poster- but I do like to read about other soon to be mommies :-) Sometimes you get the best advise just listening.

No matter where you go you find drama. I'm friendly and I promise I'm not here to judge or start some issues.

I'm sorry ya'll had a "Amanda" that was a attention whore- but I'm a low profile type of gal. I'm here to learn a little, laugh a little, and just pass time!!! I still have 7 weeks (they feel soo long anymore).

  • If that's the case, welcome. Whether or not you are someone's AE would have been exposed quickly anyway, but I'm in a trusting mood today, so I'll believe you are who you say you are.

The best way to get familiar with us is to read the red-star posts. Most of them are from regulars, or they have juicy stuff inside that created a good discussion... There is a Bump Unofficial Glossary here. It will help clear up any questions about abbreviations that you might have.

We value consistency in spelling and grammar around these parts, so if you want to be well liked, the spell check button will be your BFF. We also value variety. If you have a question, be sure to check through the last page or posts or so to see if the same question has been asked. If you are the 8th person of the day to post "What do I pack in my hospital bag?" you will get flamed, or ignored. It's not necessarily your fault, but you can do a lot of good by just paying attention to what has already been said. Of course, since you label yourself as more of a lurker, that is probably what comes naturally to you.

If you offer encouragement and support, you will get it back. The ladies here are some of the strongest, funniest, smartest women I've ever had the luxury of "knowing" and they will provide hours of entertainment and encouragement when it is needed. Sometimes simultaneously, even. So good luck, and let us know if you have any questions.
