3rd Trimester

Parenting books??

I was looking for a suggestion...I know once the little onw is here I will have no time to read and I would like to read a parenting book. Although I have been around children and babies, my DH and I decided not to take the birthing/parenting class but would like a few books to read :)

Re: Parenting books??

  • Post this on the 0-3 month board.

My doctor told me not to get parenting books because you focus on what you think the baby "should" be doing and drive yourself crazy!! She did say some of the sleep books were really helpful!!

I subscribed to a parenting magazine that I really like! :)

  • baby 411!  it's in a q & a format with an easy index.  so it's quick and does a great job answering questions as you have them.  my hospital recommended it and now i always give it to new moms as a gift.  which reminds me... i got to get my copy back.  2 days till baby!!!

happiest baby on the block is AMAZING too!

  • What to expect the first year seems to be a good one. very detailed.
  • I have been reading what has been given to me by other moms/friends.  It is listed in the below list:

What to Expect the First Year

The Happiest Baby on the Block

    Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child

    Baby 411

Becoming Babywise (very controversial-- I am not promoting it or nixing it, just saying that I read it)

After all that, I think it was nice to compare different approaches and then ulitmately take from each one what works best for us!
