3rd Trimester

More bag questions...

Just wondering about the baby items that you will be bringing to the hospital?

I've just decided what to bring, but it's almost everything I've bought from 0-3 months....A bit much, obviously!!

Any advice would be super helpful! TIA.

PS...we should be in there for 2 or 3 nights.

Re: More bag questions...

  • You only need one outfit for baby to go home in along with a blanket to put over them in the carseat to keep warm and a hat.  Other than that at the hospital they'll be wearing what's provided at the hospital.  It's usually really hard to get anything on their legs over the tracking bracelet they have to wear.

  • The list my hospital gave me says I only need an outfit to go home in and a receiving blanket.  I'm packing 2 outfits(newborn size and 0-3 size).

  • 1 one outfit for the baby to come home and a blanket.

  • My hospital didn't say anything about clothes on the list they provided at the class. I'm taking 2 pants, 2 tops, jacket, hat, and blanket. It's freezing out here! The sizes are NB and 0-3.
  • 2 outfits to go home in (in case LO gets one dirty).

    blanket for carseat

    carseat

    hat

my hospital also does professional pictures, so I have an outfit for that w/a hat.

    socks (per my hospital's request)

  • things reccomended from birth class are:cornstarch-for dry massage, regular massage oil, 2 pairs of comfy socks, popsicles(although I feel like I'm going to forget then in the freezer anyway), chapstick, birth plan, camera, CD player, robe, your own pillow, toothbrush, mints, your focal point item, swaddle wrap for baby to go home in. My own add-ons are- nursing tea, books to read to baby, pre-natal vitamins, magazines, travel games, really cute baby outfits I probably won't use but can't help packing, all my own lotions and stuff like that. Packing all this stuff helps me feel prepared somewhat because I'm sure I'm not prepared for childbirth!

Wow... you are way over packing... do you really think you'll play games & read LO books??? Think about having to repack all of that after child birt/c-section to go home and dragging it all back to your car...

  • They supply everything at the hosp. The hosp. I delivered DD at actually insisted on using their "outfits". I couldn't dress DD in my own clothes until the day we were leaving. So I'll bring one NB and one 0-3 mo. sized outfit (just incase, DD never did fit into NB so DH had to go home & bring back a dif. outfit). I'd also recommend 2 receiving blankets (just incase one gets dirty accidentally).

  • You don't really need to pack much for baby.  Just something to bring them home in and a blanket.  The only other thing I can think of is that our hospital let us send along an outfit for them to wear for the hospital picture if you wanted.  They changed baby into it for the picture and then back out before they returned him or her to you.  Other than that they wear what the hospital provides.

This. But, I think it's natural to overpack for your first child.  I look back at what I brought the first time and laugh.  :)
  • Like the pp said I'm also packing two going home outfits... one NB and one 0-3 months.  My last two kids were pretty big and went right into 0-3 months but you never know so I'd rather have an extra outfit just in case.
