what are some good ?'s to ask dh re: discipline

we've discussed many different issues, but i want to make sure we didn't miss anything.  we seem to be on the same page with everything, but i'm sure there's something we may have differing opinions on.  just curious what topics you've all discussed.

We haven't really talked about a lot. My hubby and I are almost always on the same page (should I say he's almost always on my page?), but I know that our views on things will probably change when we are actually in whatever situation.

Strangely, DH and I have discussed discipline ever since we were just dating. I'm a teacher, so I'd often bring up issues from work. He disagrees with how his parents handled some poor decisions he made when he was a kid.  So, I'm confident we'll be OK.  Here's what worried me before we discussed it:

-will you use religion to motivate discipline?

-is spanking ok? slapping? grounding? yelling?

-should there be set chores? should they be tied to allowance? will you pay for good grades?

I was proudest that we agreed on this one:  -are you more for natural consequence or didactic consequence? In other words, if LO breaks the window after you told him 1,000 times not to rough-house, do you punish him and fix it yourself or do you keep cool and say, "Well, this has to come out of your allowance." so he learns about consequences.

Good post. I never really thought about it much. DH lets me handle the discipline with DS, but I have to say, DS is an unusually good child. It remains to be seen as to whether or not that was my parenting or if I just got lucky! With LO being our first child together, he may have more to say, but I doubt it.
