ETA: I posted this because my friend named her
3 year old Makayla and now absolutely hates it. She says looking back
it was too trendy. I am just wondering how common this is! TIA!
I don't regret the names we have chosen for our children, but this is exactly why I want to have name discussions early and often in pregnancy. My husband always wants to wait to "see what the baby looks like". Baloney. If we had stopped at the first name we both liked this pregnancy and then waited to see if it fit the baby, I know I would have ended up regretting it in the future. I like to keep the talks open!
Wow, that sucks to hate your kids name I still love my DD's name just as much, even though it is getting more popular the older she gets. I hear more and more people naming their babies her name but I'm ok with it. Her name is Claire.
ETA: OP I didn't mean you hated your kids name...just what you said about your friend.
I love my daughter's name, Kayla. She fits it perfectly. I can't imagine having named her anything else, and I wasn't that thrilled about the name at first. It was DH's pick

I know! It really surprised me when she told me that. I hadn't heard that before. I can't imagine hating your kids' name every time you say it, write it, etc. I was really curious to see how common this is!!
No I dont regret naming my child her name. It is classic, fits her and has meaning. I cant ask for more than that. With #2 we are disagreeing on his middle name but I am compromising because I got to name his first name.
I love my daughter's name! Her name is Esther and it is so perfect for her. This was the first name DH and I picked and wanted for our first daughter. The history behind it is that my mom had wanted to name one her girls this, but my dad hated it and refused. I hated it for a long time too, but when I reached a certain age, I decided it wasn't so bad after all and that, in order to honor my mother, whom I am very close to, I would name my first daughter this. Never in my life did I think my future husband would agree. But what do you know?? I get so many compliments on her name!

nope! I love it. DS is Tommy and he is SUCH a Tommy. I have some reservations about what we are naming this LO (Bridget), but I think she will grow into it and then she will be SUCH a Bridget:).....I remember when DS was born, I didn't think he reminded me of a Tommy, but I couldn't imagine him being named anything else!I
no, I love DS' name. Both of his names are family names, and they are classic names. DS#2 will also family and classic names. I have met people who used trendy names and regretted it.

I intentionally run screaming from "trendy" names because I don't want to regret it later. I love DS's name, it's in the top 50, which I don't love, but I didn't let it stop me. DS2's name is much lower on the list, which I like more... no offence to the Aidan moms of the worls, but I have a super-popular name and it pisses me off to have 3 or 4 women with my name in every situation! I wanted to avoid that if I could for my sons. I continue to love the names and feel I successfully accompoished my goal!
Re: RP from baby names: 2nd time moms - regret the name you chose for 1st LO?
