3rd Trimester

Is anyone else's animals acting VERY strange?

I'm 39weeks along, and as everyday passes, my cat acts more strange! She used to be very independant. She hardly ever meowed, only if there was an animal outside lol She pretty much kept to herself unless she wanted food, water, or love. Now, she is all over me, even standing up on the back of my legs meowing while I make supper! She waits for me outside of the bathroom, follows me around, curls up with me, etc. Even when I go out, she is at the door meowing when I come home..... Is it weird that it seems like she knows its going to happen soon? Anyone else's animals acting weird?

  • According to my veterinarian, that means you're about to go into labor!

  •  Yes....my cat is acting a bit wierd too. She sometimes gets a look in her eye as if she is jealous. A few weeks ago, she was going out of her way to run over my belly. She also climbs up the back of my legs, like yours; but she always did that.

  • Mine started with the jealousy type behavior, especially when she got in trouble for being in the crib lol She used to jump on my belly when I was alot smaller lol But now its just really weird all over me, can't leave me alone, etc etc. so strange and not like her!
  • one of my girlfriends said the same thing shortly before she went into labor

  • My dog is just strange to begin with.  Now she is strange and attached to my hip.  If I leave the room she follows and if she's sleeping when I leave once she realizes I'm gone she comes to look for me.
  • I have 2 dogs and they havent really been acting abnormally. they are pretty attached to my hip anyway though. Want to be right in my face all the time, sleep nearby or if im on the couch they will lay under my feet...all this is totally normal for my boys though.

i wonder what changes they may exhibit when i am closer to going into labor though?...if anything.

  • My cat has wanted to be held non stop for the last week too. She even tried to sit on my shoulder while I was walking around the house!
  • These last couple of weeks both my dog and cat have become more attached then usual.  Since I found out I was pregnant they have been around me but now as I sit on my couch typing this my dog is sitting under my feet like an ottoman and my cat is sitting next to me looking at my belly. When I get up from the couch my dog is right there in my face like where are you going? it's too funny.

They don't let me do anything by myself, from use the bathroom to take a bath.

  • I have a boston terrier and normally we have a fairly passive relationship.  I feed him, put him out.... but he's my 4 year old SON'S dog and everything is usually about the two of THEM. But for the last month or so, he just sits and stares at me constantly. It really kind if irritates me... I feel his eyes on me all the time! I have to send him from the room because it creeps me out! Ha ha.
  • My dog has been acting strange for weeks!  He follows me everywhere, and whines outside the bedroom door when I am trying to sleep.  He even sat outside the shower and watched me shower, waiting for me. lol And lately he has been trying to run out the front door when we leave, and he has never done that in the 2 1/2 years we have had him!  People say that means he knows I am going to have the baby soon, but he has been acting weird for a few weeks

  • Yes! My cat is also very independent and somewhat aloof but the past few days she's been following me around the house (even into the bathroom) and wanting to snuggle in my lap.

I have a pug puppy (he'll be two next week) and lately he's been attached to me like VELCRO!
