Side Pain

So about a half hour ago I got a sudden pain in my side, almost like a gas pain.  I figured it would pass in a couple minutes, but it's still there.  I tried stretching my arms out and moving around a bit (not that i can much since I'm at work).  Any idea what it could be or if it's something I should worry about??

One of my coworkers that just had a baby not too long ago said it's probably just him kicking up under my ribs or at my organs and not to worry..but I'm still kinda worried.... even though it's probably nothing.

And I haven't had anything to eat since about 2 pm or so, so I don't think it's gas pain, and I haven't had anyting carbonated or anything like that ....TIA ladies!

Re: Side Pain

  • Is it like a stitch in your side? Your intestines get all pinched and pushed around in there, so most of those kinds of pains are indigestion. However, I ended up having kidney stones while I was pregnant and that is definitely something to check out. That's a very specific area - they call it flank pain - and it's kind of on your back/side just below your ribs.

I would think if it doesn't go away and gets worse, call in. Maybe try going on a walk and see if it's just gas you can work through?

    Sorry you're uncomfortable! Good luck!

This. If you dont think that it is kidney pain then maybe try a bath to see if it relieves it? Maybe its a pulled muscle of some sort..

Hope you are feeling better soon!

  • Well, about 20 mins after I posted it, the pain just suddenly went away.  It was kinda like a stitch in my side/rib area.  I think Hudson had just lodged himself in there or something ... totally uncomfortable and then it was suddenly gone.

I have had kidney stones before and the pain was definitely not even close to that bad, it was more just discomfort.  I know that kidney stones are more common during pregnancy, and if you've had them before you're already more prone to them, so I'm crossing my fingers I don't get them while pregnant..that'd be awful!
