I posted this on 3-6, but I think this might be a good place to ask too.
Ok, so I have intraductal thrush right now and it sucks majorly.
For those who have had it, I'm sure you've felt the sharp shooting pains after you nurse or pump. You know, the ones that feel like glass is coming through your nipple from the inside? Well, I was put on a 5 day treatment of diflucan to clear it up. I took my last pill yesterday, and today I am still feeling the pains, just as sharp as they were before. i am also on a cream that I put on my nipple several times a day to clear it up.
My question is this: When did the pain go away?
Re: XP: I need help--thrush related.
I can't remember when it stopped hurting, under two weeks though (that was my follow up appointment and it was fine by then). You can take tylenol if you think it will help.
It will get better though.

A stowaway on board!
Also, did you treat your LO for thrush? Usually the treatment is gentian violet swabbed in the mouth, which is a huge PITA, because it stains everything purple, so you have to be prepared to ruin some clothes and have your baby going around with purple mouth and lips for a while. I hated the whole deal.
And, to keep it from coming back, you really need to wash EVERYTHING that could have come in contact with your breasts (prior to or during treatment) in hot water, to kill any yeast. So, clothes, towels, etc. all need to be washed.
GL. I had a mild case of what the LC called "yeasty nipples" for a while, and it was so hard to get rid of. My DD never developed thrush, even though I discontinued the whole gentian violet treatment within a day or two, b/c I just couldn't take it anymore. Hope you get rid of the thrush for good!
I took diflucan for 3 weeks - I had a 2 week prescription, it felt like the thrush was almost gone, it came back once the diflucan ran out, and then got another week and it was gone by the end of the third week. Definitely call and get a refill.
Other things you can do simultaneously with the diflucan:
-gentian violet (messy, but does help and treats both you and the baby)
-grapefruit seed extract (I did this towards the end of my diflucan prescription and felt like it was what finally kicked it for me)
-taking probiotic supplements
This talks about the gentian violet and GSE:
