convertible crib ?

My dd has a convertible crib.  which she hasn't slept in since she was 6mo old *sigh*.  Long story short she would only sleep with me after that (my fault) and so we put a full mattress on the floor of her room to get her out of our bed and at least in her own room.  Now we are thinking of converting the crib but I'm thinking why make it a toddler bed, just make it the full bed and buy a rail to go on the side.  She hasn't ever rolled off her mattress onto the floor but of course we don't want to risk her falling out.  anyone else done this or have thoughts?

Re: convertible crib ?

  • DS sleeps with us a lot too. When we converted his crib we skipped the toddler bed. He knows how to get in and out of a big bed and he has never fallen out. We also didn't want to buy another crib matress. He has been fine in it and we didn't even get the rails. The bed is against the wall on one side and hr sleeps on that side. We usually get him down in his bed now but he usually wakes up between 3-4 and comes and gets in our bed. Good luck!

  • DD 1 never slept with us but when she started climbing out the crib we put her into a full size bed with rails...we never made her crib into the toddler bed...we figured we may as well just put her in the bed rather than transitioning her from the crib to toddler bed to regular bed...
  • I would go straight to a full.
