NBR: What do you do with old magazines?

I suscribe to Women's Day and I have a ton of already read ones.  I don't really know what to do with them...I kinda hate to throw them out.  What I thought about doing was getting a binder and cutting out the articles and such that interest me and put them in there in some kind of organizational pattern and then toss the rest of the magazine.

What do ya'll do with old magazines?

Re: NBR: What do you do with old magazines?

  • Old mags are great for arts and crafts and classroom projects...do you know of any teachers, librarians or counselors who could use them? Also, salons usually have tons and tons of mags so you could see if anyone wants them...hope this helps.

  • I take them to the gym at work - or recycle them
  • Take them to the hospital.  When my gdad was in the hospital, we read the heck out of back issues of magazines that people had donated.  Just take your address label off.
  • I know what you mean - I hate to throw them away too!  I used to take them to the gym, but I don't go anymore....  Now I just take a stack everytime I go to my OB's office and leave them there for people to read!  But I may will also take Ashley's recommendation and see if J's daycare wants any.  I have magazines that are over 1 year old just sitting around that have never been read....
  • Ashley I am a former teacher so I know of plenty of them...I think I'll email some of my old colleagues and see if they want them.  And what they can't use I think I'll donate to the hospital.

Thanks ladies for all the good ideas!

  • Like you mentioned before...I have a binder that I keep any recipes or interesting articles.  I recycle the rest :)

I knew that but I'm such an idiot lately! Please forgive me!

  • I'll tear out some things to keep and put them in a folder or binder.  If you have some that you don't tear anything out of, hospitals and women's shelters are happy to take them if they aren't more than a few months old.  I recycle all my old ones.
  • We recycle them.
