So I posted this on 0-3, but thought I would try here too, Does anyone have a good dairyfree diet they follow. We are trying to see if dairy is causing LO's diarrhea, google has me so turned around.
I have been dairy free for two weeks. I have replaced milk with rice milk (not soy because I read that a lot of babies with a cow's milk sensitivity are also affected by soy). The flavor is strange, but it works for tea, coffee, cereal and in recipes, not sure that I could drink a glass of it straight up though. Smart Balance makes a vegan alternative to butter that's good. Rice Dream makes an ice cream substitute. I haven't found a cheese substitute that I like yet. Also check out www.godairyfree.org for shopping ideas and recipes. With enough careful label reading and the above substitutions my diet hasn't changed all that much.
I am dairy/soy free - for the past three + months. You just need to read the labels. If you think it is a milk protein issue -- you need to look for things with Whey or Casein (aka sodium Caseinate).
I use rice milk or coconut milk. If you have a Whole Foods or Trader Joes you can find plenty of items that are dairy free.
