What is this mark on Eva's face? PIP

Eva woke up with this mark on her face and I don't know what it is.  I thought she just slept on something but it hasn't gone away yet and she's been up for hours.  Her skin isn't dry or rough (I tried putting moisturizer on it any way).  Has anyone ever seen anything like this?  Should I call the ped?

  • I'm really interested in seeing the replies. I found something just like that on DD's thigh yesterday. I need to check and see if it's still there. It was about that size, red like that. It did feel slightly raised, almost like a welt or something, but barely. I put some cream on it too but I have no clue what it is.

  • M has slept on balled up blanket or something before and it made a mark that stayed all day before....or maybe a mosquito bite?

  • it my just be my computer but her eyelid on the same side looks a little bruised, did she maybe fall and bump herself in the crib somehow???

i would think if it was a bite it would be raised.  if it did not fade in a day or two i would call the pedi.

She has a bruise that is healing on her eyelid but that's from a few days ago.  I don't think it's a bite either.  I'm thinking it may just be a dry patch- like her skin was dry and got irritated by something in her crib but I'll call the doctor on Monday if it hasn't cleared up by then.

    Thanks Ladies!

  • DD had something like this on her hand, I waited a couple of days to see if it went away on its own, and it did.  Otherwise I was going to call the Pedi and get it checked out.  I has not come back yet either.
  • My DD's skin is super senative to things and she get places like that alot. They normally go away in a day.

  • It could be a patch of eczema- both DS and I have it and get raised red patches. I use California Baby Calendula Cream and it clears them up.
  • ::shrugs:: just looks like a little heat/allergy rash to me.

I've read that there are no rashes that are emergencies, so I don't think just waiting will hurt her.

  • My DD gets similar spots in various places and actually has one on her face right now. The pedi said it was just eczema.
  • IMHO, I would try random things for a few days before involving the pedi. If it doesn't go away in like a week after trying certain remedies, I would seek the pedi's opinion. Try 1/2 strength hydrocortisone cream if you think it might be eczema or dry skin. That should clear it up in no time. Or maybe calendula cream. GL!
