define 'hook up'

As if someone were to say 'we hooked up last night'.

I always think this means slept together.

I'll give an example why this confuses me:  On jersey shore last night the situation says we hooked up, but they just made out.

What do you think hooked up means?  I never use this statement and never have so this needs to be cleared up for me.

  • In HS it meant make-out.

    In college it meant sex.

In marriage it means we had electrical work done and now our lights work again.

Bahaha. I was going to say it depended on the age of the person saying it...but this sums it up perfectly.

  • when someone says hooked up I always asked, "hooked up or hooked up hooked up?" Former being "we messed around" later being "we slept together"
  • In New Jersey and New York (as far as Italian Americans are concerned) hook-up always means kiss.  If two people slept together you would say .. ___ and ____ had sex.  Simple as that.

  • Hooked up = Sex

    Everything less = "Made out"

Hahaha that's like when you were 15 and your friend was like, "Do you like him, or do you LIKE HIM like him?"

  • I guess it does depend on the age.  We never said this in high school or college.
