One more WWYD before I go...

So since it's a snow day today, I won't be taking C to daycare.  Trouble is, I already made the bottles and put cereal in them.  Should I feed him the bottles I made and pump today?  Or should I throw them out and nurse today?  I have a healthy freezer stash, but I HATE to throw out all that milk.  I also HATE to pump, and I do it three times a day at work.  WWYD?

  • If it were me, I would dump considering you have a decent freezer stash.

But that's because I hate pumping soo much that it trumps even wasted milk.

  • I would juse use the pumped milk...but then again, I don't BF, so I don't have much of an opinion on it, LOL.

  • That's tough.

Given your freezer stash, I'd probably dump them and nurse. I hate pumping, too.

  • Do the bottles not last as long with cereal in them?  When I was pumping/BFing I remember milk was good in the fridge for up to a week (but we didn't use cereal).  So if it were me, I'd leave them in there and use them on Monday.

Now if the cereal makes the milk go bad quicker, maybe you could give 1 or two today and pump them and use the others tomorrow and pump them.  Then you're not tossing milk, but you dont' have to pump as much.

  • It depends on which one is more valuable to you. Not wasting the bottles or not pumping. I HATED pumping so I would probably throw out the bottles.

This is what I've decided to do.  I gave a bottle a bit ago and pumped.  I will nurse at noon and 3, and then get DH to give a bottle tonight and pump then.  I think if you add cereal to a bottle it should be used within either 24 or 48 hours.  I could be wrong, though.
