NBR: Coffee Makers!

Do any of you ladies have a Keurig, Tassimo, or any other single cup coffee makers?  I am seriously wanting one...just not sure on the pros/cons!  My aunt has a keurig and it seems great.....but the tassimo looks like it has a wider variety of coffees to choose from!

Re: NBR: Coffee Makers!

  • I had a Philips one that used the pods.

I honestly used it for a week and then it just started gathering dust.  I liked the flavor of my regular coffee pot better and the pod things got super duper expensive.

  • Oh no :(

They seem really neat.  I'm the only one in my house that drinks coffee....so I always feel like I'm wasting money when I buy a whole bag of beans!  lol!

  • I am the only one here that drinks coffee too. I was using a French press until I broke my second one! I thought about buying a keurig, but I think mentally I would hate being limited by a few brands. I take my coffee very seriously (lol). Also, if they ever go out of business the custom pods would disappear. So there's a couple cons that made the decision for me:)

  • Yeah, I'm the only one who drinks coffee too!  But I keep it in the freezer and my Cuisinart coffee pot grinds and brews, so when I do get beans (usually I just do the pre-ground stuff) I feel like I'm okay and make it through the whole bag before it goes bad if I keep it in the freezer.

  • I also LOVE my French press!  Over time it's just starting to seem a little time consuming.  Having to put my water in the kettle...wait on it to boil...then wait on the coffee to steep.  The others just sounded so easy..lol!

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE SUPER PUFFY HEART LOVE my Keurig.  THere is a huge variety of coffees, teas, hot chocolates, etc now.   Also - you can get your own filter so you can use your own coffee too.

I am the only coffee drinker in the family so the ~$.50 per cup is really not that bad.  Plus, when I was making coffee in a pot, I was pouring so much of it out - it probably is about the same cost.

  • I just checked it out online....and it does look like they have a good variety to chose from!  I'm in the same boat Sarah...I usually end up pouring some leftover coffee out.  I feel like I am wasting so much :(

I did not know about the filter for the keurig!  Is it something you buy on it's own....or does it come with one of the machines?

You can buy it separately - or - I think if you get the super fancy one it comes with it.

I haven't used mine yet because the k-cups are so so so convenient.

and I never could manage to make a 'good' cup of coffee with a regular coffee maker.  my scoops were always bigger or smaller than the instructions said - LOL

  • I just ended up with a bunch of gc's this Christmas....and it's the only thing that I could think of that I really wanted!

I always end up struggling for the perfect "balance" for my coffee.  Like you said...sometimes my scoops were too big and it would end up super strong.  Other times too weak!  ggrrrrr!
