Xylocaine and Teething

Has anyone's pedi prescribed xylocaine for teething? DS has been teething for 2 + months now and has the bottom left completely out and the bottom right is poking through.  Tylenol and Orajel don't seem to really provide him much relief. Looking for anyone's experiences with using the xylocaine...

Re: Xylocaine and Teething

  • xylocaine is really silly. Why would you give your kid something that really is not needed. Every kid teeths and gets through it fine. I am not one to keep giving out lo's unnessary drugs, including Tylenol.

Your LO is fine. It's normal for them to be uncomfortable and fuss. They get through it...Call me mean but I'm not putting this stuff in my kids system just because they are teething?? Umm no

  • i have never heard of that!  there are so many home teething remedies, have you tried them all first? they might be just as effective, and probably are cheaper (and definitely less chemicals in LO's body)... what about a cold washcloth to chew on?  my parents always said that was the best, and it was free!  g/l, i think we're working on molars and it has been awful, we had to give motrin tonight...

  • I filled the prescription and then when I was reading the pamphlet at home I thought it seemed a bit much for teething....he does seem to like the cold/frozen rag and his teething rings...i'm hoping this will just quickly pass.
