Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Mommies of boys - help a mom to be out!

My cousin is having a baby boy this year and has no clue (as none of us did) what to do with a boy.

If you could please list some tips and the top 3 things you just couldn't live without (the little things - formula dispensers, diaper caddy, boppy, etc) I would greatly appreciate it! I'm going to put together something for her shower.

Thank you so much!!!

  • what do you mean "what to do with" a boy? the same things you do with your daughter.  do you want recc's on products specific to boys? sorry this confuses me a bit.

Ditto . . . I really can't even think of products specific to boys other than boyish clothing.

  • I thought the peepee teepees were ridiculous and gimmicky. Buy a big pack of washcloths from Target or WalMart and give them to her. Cheaper and much easier to keep on a wee weenie. Other than that, I wish we would have gotten more things for later on - like now. One friend gave us 2 snap pocket bibs that wipe very easily, the Tiny Diner portable placemat, a little gel pack for owies, etc. The things that you didn't realize you loved until you started using them.

I was thinking the same thing.  The only thing I can think of is that maybe we used more washcloths than girl mom's do because we would cover his penis when changing because he always would pee, but other than that, I don't know how it would be different.  I don't see how a boppy vs a brestfriend has anything to do with a boy or a girl.

I agree. They are a bit gimmicky, but it sounds like she's looking for products specific to boys.

  • LOL@ the one star bandit!

I second the washcloths idea.  I have a girl, but my friends with boys say they are indispensable.   What else boy specific would you need (other than gender specific items--clothes, etc?)

  • There really isn't any different products better for a boy vs a girl. I do recommend pampers diapers. My DS always leaked with Huggies.

P.S. this isn't a product, but always point the peepee down in the diaper. LOL. Just incase she is never told that. Oh and always use something to cover "it" up when changing diapers or you will get sprayed.

agreed.  The infant stuff is all exactly the same.  Pee Pee Tee Pees are stupid, there is no way it would stay on once the baby can use his hands to grab things.

I think peepee teepees are one of the few things that are just for boys. i never used them, we just real quick at diapering!!

We use a dry wash cloth as a cover.

This. Exactly!  For my friend's shower, I'm getting things that she'll probably need after 6 months.  Toys for older infants.  I like the bib idea!  Some feeding spoons.  Everyone gets newborn stuff....infact, you get repeats.

  • I never had an issue with getting pee'd on.  I think it happened 3-4x tops.
