  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner?

If she eats what we ask her to eat, then she does get a treat.  DS does not get treats yet...he is 16 mos and doesn't get the cause/effect for it.

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate?

    Yes.

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner?

Only if she ate a good dinner.  A bedtime snack is fine with me, but not in place of dinner.  If she decides not to eat her dinner, she doesn't get a bedtime snack.

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having?

No.  But, I will offer a yogurt, applesauce, cheese stick, piece of bread, etc.  Something that I don't have to cook.

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table?

    Yes.

    6. Does your dh cook?

Yes, but really only on weekends because he doesn't get home during the week until dinner is already on the table.

  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner?

Not every night.  But occassionaly I will tell him if he does a good job with dinner that we will have a special treat for dessert if I have something in the house I think he'll like.

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate?

I stongly encourage it, but I don't force it.

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner?

    No, not usually.

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having?

I always make at least one thing that DS should like.  If he won't eat dinner and he also didn't have a good lunch, i will give him a banana and/or yogurt if he want is.

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table?

Not every night, but probably 5 out of 7 on average.

    6. Does your dh cook?

Not unless you count microwaving hot dogs as cooking....

  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner?  No, not really...

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate?  We would like for them to try everything...sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner?  No.

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having?  No, they eat what we make or eat nothing.

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table?  Yes, every night.

    6. Does your dh cook?  Very rarely these days...he used to cook every night but started working more so I took over.

  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner? No but if we do happen to have dessert that night the girls have to eat a good dinner before they can have any.

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate? No, while I do encourage them to try stuff; they do not have to eat something if they don't want it.

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner? No, we eat pretty late.

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having? Yes. J does not like food mixed together so I have no problem plating her meal differently than everyone elses (ie when the rest of us have fried rice she has a helping of plain rice, uncooked carrots, some peas, scrambled egg, and a serving of tofu or chicken).

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table? Yes

    6. Does your dh cook? On Saturdays he makes pancakes or waffles and in nicer weather he grills at least once a week.  Otherwise he rarely cooks.

  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner?

    No

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate?

    No

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner?

No, well milk during story time, but she doesn't get milk with meals.

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having?

DD gets a smoothie mostly for dinner (it has veggies, fruit, and peanut butter, but no added sugar or dairy) . She usually eats what we eat for breakfast and lunch.

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table?  At breakfast, she and her dad eat together, but not at the table, DD sits at the table, DH on the sofa.  At lunch we usually eat together, DD at her table next to the sofa, me on the sofa, DS next to DD in his high chair.

    6. Does your dh cook?

No. He can gather, but I would rather he not.

    1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner? No, DH's parents did this and now he cannot leave anything on his plate which in his case leads to over eating.

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate? We encourage it but don't force it.

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner? Yes

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having? No. I do if we're eating late though

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table? 90% of the time

    6. Does your dh cook? No, I don't let him. Cooking is my time.

  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner?  Sometimes but not always.  They do not get dessert without eating at least most of their dinner and trying everything on their plate, but we don't always have dessert even if/when the girls eat great.

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate? No, but if we're having dessert they do have to try it.  If they don't want to eat anything, they don't have to.

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner? No.

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having? No.  What's for dinner is what's for dinner and we all eat the same thing.  I do try to have at least one thing that I think they'll eat, but even that doesn't always happen.  They don't have to eat anything if they don't want to.  They just have to sit at the table while everyone eats and "chat" or keep us company.

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table? Yes

    6. Does your dh cook? No...well, rarely.  He has in the last few weeks b/c I was on bedrest, but generally no.  He is getting much better.  He can now make hamburger helper and boil water for spaghetti.  When we first met, he couldn't do anything other than sandwiches and frozen pizzas/meals.

  • 1. Do you reward your child for eating all or most of their dinner?

    2. Do you make your dc at least try what is on their plate?

    Yes

    3. Does your dc get a snack after dinner?

Sometimes. If she does not eat much dinner that I know she likes, we give her more dinner when she asks for a snack. Sometimes she will get a bowl of cereal. We eat at 6 and if she has a nap she will be up until 10 (so she's pretty hungry)

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having?

No. DH told me before we had kids that I will not be a short order cook like my mom was. She has to at least try it. Before she goes to bed we'll give her a bowl of cereal or PB&J, but not at dinnertime. (is this wrong???)

    Every night.

    6. Does your dh cook?

    4. Do you cook something different for your dc if they do not like what you are having? no. not unless I'm fixing a shellfish dish... then I'll make a separate main dish.  this is b/c my mom and my granny had anaphalactic reactions to shellfish.  so far, dd has not, but she doesn't like shrimp at all and I'm making chicken or something for ds anyway... soooo.

    5. Do you eat as a family at the table? most of the time.
