Breastfeeding

How long does your mainly bf 6wish baby take to drink a bottle?

I've been giving a bottle a day or every couple days for a couple weeks now. I asked my sitter (I have her on Wednesdays all day and whenever we want to go out) yesterday how long it takes for ds to finish two ounces and she said 45mins. I haven't timed it but it does seem to take an awfully long time. I use Dr. Browns wide mouth bottles just as I did with my first son. I bought a Playtex DropIn that I'm planning on trying tonight.

How long does it take your little one to finish a couple ounces?

  • Even though my LO isn't 6 weeks, I think I will still reply!  Smile  She drinks 4 ounces in about 15 minutes and that includes us burping her.  However, we've been giving her a bottle every day, so maybe that's why she's faster at it.

  • My son is 10 weeks and would not take a bottle at all before starting daycare this past Monday. He now takes about 2 oz from a bottle at a feeding and my DCP says it takes him about an hour to drink those 2 oz.  I think it will just take some getting used to before they can drink it more quickly.
  • My almost 3 week old can KILL a 4oz bottle in 15 min or less...winding included. We even try our best to space it out a bit to make it as long as a typical breastfeed, but he also has an exceptionally strong sucking reflex.
  • My DD will down 3oz in less than 10 min. ?She is like a little hoover vacuum. ?
  • Thanks ladies! I tried the Ventair and he downed almost two ounces in about ten minutes. Much, much better. Now if I can only figure out how to get the air out of the bag of them when I'm not filling it all the way.
