Duck tub fail

DD hates the duck tub. I have been looking for a better way to wash her since she is too big for her sling in the sink and I didn't like her infant tub.  DD got a duck for Christmas so I broke it out the other night and she screamed hard the entire time. I tried again the next night and she started screaming as soon as I took her socks off next to it. Yesterday I tried just having the duck around the house so that she might become desensitized to it but she just looks at it and screams.

I loved washing her in it. It was perfect for me but apparently she didn't agree. I'm back to the too small sling in the sink for now.

  • I'm sorry.  Does your beak squeak? Sometimes that makes all the difference...

  • Can you just put her in the tub?  I started putting PJ in the big tub around 6 months.

  • BOH is bitter about her squeakless beak.
  • We started bathing DD in the tub around 6 months- she did really well- we started by being in the tub with her and now we can bathe her supervised just fine in the tub by herself.

I agree! Definitely not the first time I have heard about the squeakless duck in question. lol

    LOL!!!
  • Maybe if the beak didn't squeak she'd be ok. DH seems to think the squeaking will fix everything but it just makes her cry more.

I'm a total clean freak when it comes to DD and I would want to clean the regular tub ever night before putting her in it. I'm trying to avoid it as long as possible. I also have 2 herniated disks and I'm trying to avoid the bending. Plus, if she's afraid of the duck then I'd think she'd be terrified of the big tub but I could be wrong.

I might head to Buy Buy Baby tomorrow. They have a sling made for bigger babies. That might hold me over a little longer. She loves her bath if its in the sink.

This is not news on the bump.

Perhaps it would have squeaked if it looked like this... image

  • Try the Eurobath.  It's very big and I know many mom's who have toddlers who use it.
  • What about just sitting her in your kitchen sink? Less open, good size, put a towel under her butt to help with sliding.

  • Thanks for the suggestions, ladies. I saw the Eurobath on Buy Buy Baby's site. I might check that out tomorrow too.
