Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Nap location...

We don't bedshare, but during the day, DD will ONLY take a nap in my bed. She absolutely refuses her crib. Am I reinforcing a habit I don't necessarily want her starting by allowing her to nap in my bed? Should I just allow her the sleep she (obviously) needs regardless of where she's getting it?

BTW, my bed is very low to the ground and pushed into a corner, so there's really only 1 "open" side which i line with a few pillows and a rolled up blanket - she can't get by it.

  • IDK, I'd still be afriad that LO could roll or crawl over the blankets/pillows.  I know my DS needs his crib to be safe.  He reg naps and sleeps in it though.

  • Im not a nap nazi. Not this young anyway. One naps in a bouncer and the other in the swing. DD#1 napped in the swing until she was 10 1/2 months old before I switched to crib naps. After 3 days she excepted it and that was that. I plan ot do the same thing this time around. For now im just happy they are napping you know?

  • I am a big fan of the crib!  For the most part, DD has always napped and slept there from the beginning.  Around 4 months, she would give me a hard time and would take 1 nap in my bed.  It's huge and I have a video monitor and would turn the volume up so I felt safe.  If she made a noise, I would just look to see if she was rolling at all.  She never ended up rolling in the bed for some reason even though in the crib she is all over the place.  I say, go with whatever is working at this age.  Just be as careful as possible.
