Same here! If I even try to cut back the calories my supply drops. I've actually heard of this happening to a lot of people and I'm trying to to stress out. Around 6 months pp I started to drop a little weight and its now slowly coming off but its very very slow. Like you, I actually gained weight my first few months of breastfeeding. I try and stay very cautious about the type of food I'm eating and try to stick to a lot of protein.
This was me and I ended up joining WW around 9 months pp so that I could lose those 7 pounds left from pregnancy. I am down 20 pounds in 13 weeks (went up and down around Christmas of course).
Sometimes having a 'not bad' diet just isn't good enough. What does that mean?
If you aren't losing, you are eating too much. Unfortunately, it can be that simple (speaking as a nutritionist). The high majority of people think they eat less than they really do. Are you eating out a lot? Snacking often? Drinking liquid calories a lot? Heavy on high caloric foods (pasta, nuts, etc)?
exercise is great, though. It can be better for women who are BF'ing, since cutting back on cals too drastically can affect milk supply. You can try to cut back a little bit and you can try to add a bit more activity in there. If your supply suffers, it could be that you are one of the women who doesn't lose weight until they are done BF'ing.
Thanks for the tip. Actually I didn't even think that my drop in supply was due to my cut calories (I track everything on dailyplate.com). I was averaging about 1600 - 1800 per day. I'd rather have a few extra pounds than see my supply slip away like it did a few weeks ago.
I guess I'm half way there to my one year goal of BF, but it sure is going to suck have this extra weight in July
