Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Warning: Solid question inside. Proceed with caution.

Dumb question: Is it okay to skip a couple days? We have been doing solids for a couple weeks now. DS will have a few bites, then he is done. The past 2 nights I have had to work late so I didn't have a chance to give him solids. I am not screwing anything up am I? TIA!

Re: Warning: Solid question inside. Proceed with caution.

  • Nope.  We occasionally skip days when we get really busy, or when DS isn't in the mood for solids.

  • I hope not, because I wasn't very consistent with the cereal at first.  We are just starting to get into a regular routine.

The most important part of their diet is breastmilk and/or formula at this point anyways, so nutritionnally, they'll be fine.

  • No, you're not screwing anything up. At this point solids are just complimentary to your son's diet of breast milk or formula. Skipping a few days is fine. Some parents don't even begin solids at six months, so you're fine. There are no hard and fast rules about how to feed your child solid food.
