Made it to 6m, and would have continued til 1y if I hadn't had to stop and take a medication long term.
Tell her to shut the heck up.

Our mom's are from another generation where formula feeding was the norm. I have been EPing since DS was born. However, my mom is a pediatric nurse so she is privy to the whole BFing movement.
Still BF at 9 1/2 months, but am trying to wean as I am pregnant and my supply is starting to drop. If not due to me being pregnant, I would until at least a year.
He's only 6 months old, not 6 years. I don't see anything wrong until they are over a year, then IMO it's a little more odd. To each their own though, I FF.

Still breastfeeding and will through at least a year. My supply has dropped of a bit, but she can still feed in the morning and before bed. I pump once/day at work and then supplement the rest with frozen milk.
Still going strong at 9.5 months! I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, will likely let DS wean himself. How is it gross? That's what they're there for. Did she ever consider that if your breasts are still producing milk, you should take advantage of it?

I'm still breastfeeding. Your mom would really think I'm gross, because I BF'd throughout my entire pregnancy of my second LO. Basically, I've been BFing for almost three years, and my kids have been very healthy because of my choice. Just tell her all the benefits of BFing.
I'm still BF and plan to until 12 mon or longer if that is what works for me and my baby. I have had a few people ask me when I am going to quit or tell me I should quit but it's my baby and my choice
I still am! I am so lucky that my mom is a LC, my family would expect nothing less of me than to bf beyond a year. My IL's on the other hand probably can't wait for me to stop.
I was able to BF the boys until almost a year, the only reason I stopped was because they both just didn't want to anymore because I went back to work. Since I'm staying home for good now I'm hoping to go to at least 18 month with Belly!
Still bf'ing 2 weeks shy of a year. Your mom is ignorant and I would tell her so. If she thinks it's ok to talk to you that way she should be put in her place.

7 months today and plan to keep going til at least a year.
I get asked how long I'm going to keep it up all the time. I tell them I never want to buy formula and that with the allergy genes I passed on,it is the least I could do for him.
What kills me about people who say stuff like this is that formula has really only been around for about a hundred years. How do they think babies were fed for the previous 5000-odd years?!
We are still BF (no bottles) and I will continue to do so "gross" or not until DS self-weans or I dry up. Originally I wanted to go until a year but I've since changed to 1 yr+.
Still am. Hope to go one year. My mom nursed me for 7 months and would have gone longer, but she planned a vacation with my dad without really thinking about the bfing consequences.
"You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
still going at 10.5 months. my family is not grossed out but they feel that I'm depriving my child b/c I'm still BF. They think he is small and underweight b/c he isn't completely FF. They are CRAZY!
Me too! We are still going strong and plan on going until at least a year. I also have a hefty freezer stash and add to it daily. When he turns a year old, we'll play it by ear and see how interested he still is in nursing. I do plan to stop pumping at work when he turns 1, but if I can nurse just in the mornings and evenings, then I will go until he wants to stop or DH and I decide to TTC.
I bf each kid until about 17 months. Eww, gross!!!
Most people understand that either BM or formula is a good choice for babies and that most of the time, its just personal preference. Your mom is ignorant, that's all. Feel free to ignore her "advice". I bet she also believes it's safer to have babies sleep on their tummies and that carseats aren't necessary, too LOL!

I would tell her to kiss my gross butt.
We are still at it & will wean after a year

DD absolutely refuses formula.
I'm proud of all you ladies that are still breastfeeding. ?It is truly a labor of love and no one should ever make you feel bad about it.
Not my mom. She breast fed me and my siblings for at least twelve months/each.
I plan to begin weaning her after her first birthday.
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
This.
My mom and MIL are both pro-breastfeeding, which has been helpful!
If my mom told me that it was gross that I'm still BFing DS, I'd give her the major side-eye. He's 7 months old, not 7 years!
