another potty question - public restrooms

We have started potty training and my 2 1/2 girl won't go in any other potty but hers.  Any tips on getting past that?  She does great at home, but if we go anywhere I put on Pullups in case she has to go.  She either holds it or goes in her pullup.

  • I have seen people post that they will sit on the toilet, kinda far back, and then have their LO sit in front of them.  Maybe she will feel better if you are sitting on it too?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

We did this.  Plus, when daycare started working with her at school, there is no potty chair.  So she just learned to hold herself up on a regular potty.

    Just keep working on it!

  • we have a fold up seat that goes on top of the potty.  DS sits to pee and has to hold his penis down.  so he needs the smaller seat.

we carry lysol wipes to disinfect the toilet, and then use lots of hand sanitizer because he uses his hands to stabilize himself!!!

  • We just make a big deal out of it when we go to public places. Before we do anything, I ask DD if she needs to go potty.

We used this in the beginning before she was ready for the big toilet, it is stand alone with bags.  Then we used it at times as a seat over the toilet.  Now she sits on anything.
