Toddlers: 24 Months+

almost 2 year old dd said 'no' for the first time

we told her she had to put her binky back in her crib and she said NO! and just stood there. I wanted to stop and cry for a minute because it was such a milestone but then I had to be the mom in charge again. I have a feeling in a few weeks I'm not going to think it's so cute.

  • I am shocked you made it to almost 2 y/o without getting, 'No!'.  Way to go mama!

Seriously!! After da-da and woof, it was DD's next word. I went in to tuck her in last night and she even said it in her sleep, lol.

yea, I think my daughter learned this at 15 months LOL....now she knows " HUH?" and "uh-uh" ...DH asked her last night how many diff ways she can say NO, she started counting. Smart@ss. LOL...

  • Way to go!  Now it will be her favorite word!

  • I have to say, the fact that she is almost 2 and has just tried out saying "no" for the first time is amazing!  Maybe she's just a really laid back kid??

My DD was stubborn and precocious; she started with that at around 14 months!

It took my DS a little longer; he's more mellow and naturally cooperative, but I'm sure he was no more than 18 months when he started to verbally defy me.

  • We just started with the big defiant no's in our house. I'm not too happy about it.
